What about multi-pet households? What if I have multiple cats?

For multi-pet households, the feeder can be set to open based for a specific pet by weight, as long as their weights are different enough to be recognized. You can also set a custom schedule for each feeder.

Chip recognition (RFID reader) is our most-requested feature, and we've prioritized it on our roadmap. We'll unlock it as a stretch goal in our upcoming crowdfunding campaign.

Chip or RFID reading?

Feedsy currently identifies pets by weight, which works well in multi-pet homes as long as each pet's weight is distinct enough to be recognized.

RFID chip-based recognition is one of our top-requested features. While it's not available yet, it's firmly on our roadmap and will be unlocked as a stretch goal in our upcoming crowdfunding campaign.

Is it only for cats? How about dogs?

Feedsy is also suitable for small to medium-sized dogs. While the feeder and app are not cat-specific, the key consideration is size.

The bowl measures 6" x 5" (15.2cm x 12.7cm) at the top and is 2" (5cm) deep. The weight scale platform - the area in front of the bowl where your pet stands or sits to eat - measures 16.5" x 9.4" (42cm x 24cm) and supports pets up to 22lbs (10kg).

If your dog fits comfortably within these dimensions, Feedsy will be a great fit.

But isn't wet food better?

There are many approaches to feeding, and what works best can vary from pet to pet, and home to home. Wet food has its benefits, but not everyone can always be there when their furry friend is hungry - whether it's a long workday, a short trip, or one of those very early weekend mornings.

Feedsy is designed to help keep your pet on a routine, even when you can't be there in person.
If you're unsure about the best diet for your pet, it's always a good idea to check with your vet.

Will Feedsy work for big cats?

Feedsy is designed with most cats in mind, including larger breeds like Maine Coons. To ensure a comfortable fit, check the following dimensions:
The bowl measures 6" x 5" (15.2cm x 12.7cm) and is 2" (5cm) deep. The weight scale platform - the area in front of the bowl where your pet stands or sits to eat - measures 16.5" x 9.4" (42cm x 24cm) and supports pets up to 22lbs (10kg).

What is the minimum/maximum amount of food the feeder can give?

The feeder can dispense between 1g and 50g of food per serving. A warning will appear for portions over 20g, as some kibbles may be fluffy and could cause overflow. The bowl is rated to 2.2lbs (1kg) and is designed to withstand head bumps, licking, and pawing. You can schedule up to 24 portions per day.

How many portions can I schedule per day?

You can schedule up to 24 portions per day, giving you full control over your pet's feeding routine. Whether it's small frequent meals or a few larger ones, the system is designed to adapt to your pet's needs.

Is the bowl plastic?

The white bowl shown in photos and videos is part of our prototype. The final version will feature a stainless steel bowl that magnetically mounts into place for improved durability and easy cleaning.

What is the capacity of the food bin?

The food bin holds up to 10.5cups (2.5L) of dry kibble, enough to support several days of feeding depending on portion size and meal frequency.

7 years of testing

Our Story

I built Feedsy for one very spoiled cat - Emma.
Back in 2017, I managed mission-critical systems at Amazon and wanted a feeder built the same way: relentlessly tested, precise, and continuously monitored. Nothing on the market even came close.

So I spent a year designing my own: an LED status ring, a sensor for gram-level portions, advanced algorithms, and self-diagnostics. In 2018 Emma started eating from Prototype 1 - and did so flawlessly for five years.
When a friend finally said, "You should sell these!" I doubled down. Two intense years of redesigning for manufacturing later, Feedsy is ready for your home.

Seven years. Thousands of meals. One rock-solid, high-tech premium feeder.
